VQ means values quotient. It is the measure of a person’s capacity to make good value choices. Science has discovered that value, values and valuing are at the epicenter of all human behavior and performance. Every thought, choice, action, and reaction you have ever had, made or taken in your life is based upon your perception of what will create the greatest net value in your life at that moment. It's how you are wired; it's how the human mind works. Values and valuing are the backbone of the thinking.

A multitude of disciplines from neuroscience to social science, from axiology to psychology, and from anthropology to biology, have all converged on a rather singular conclusion: Values, value, and valuing are at the epicenter of human behavior and performance -  Value drives the process.

Success (in the most positive sense) is what happens when you are accurate in your perception of what actions will add the greatest value (lead towards the fulfillment of an aspiration). Every mistake, failure, shortcoming, upset, and fear is the result of a misperception of value.

For the first time in history, through a scientifically validated, direct assessment exercise, we are able to quickly (in about 20 minutes) and precisely measure how a person’s perceptions of value (upon which we make thousands of choices per day) can both support and sabotage success. 

This simple assessment exercise allows us to measure value thinking processes in 6 primary dimensions, each of which are further subdivided into 6 sub-dimensions for a total of 36 measurements. A person’s score in each of these measurements indicates how they think. Virtually everyone has specific measurements that are brilliant and others that are challenged. These 36 measurements constitute what we call the person Values Quotient or VQ – their capacity to make good value choices.  In general, the higher one’s overall VQ the better.

VQ: Where Science and Character Converge

Character is defined as “the aggregate of features, traits, qualities, and attributes that form the individual nature of a person or thing.” There are only a certain few things we can discern about a person through observation. Even so, the conclusions reached through observation are often erroneous due to our own beliefs, false perceptions and preferences as well as any efforts on the part of the person being observed to consciously or subconscious deceive, pretend or impress.

Because axiology is pure mathematics, VQ cuts through all subjectivity, including cultural norms to get to the raw, true measurement. The assessment cannot be manipulated unless the person has been trained in the science.

To maximize success you must maximize VQ.

VQ is not some clever marketing twist on old psychobabble. It is a true breakthrough in personal, leadership and organizational assessment and development. It is as real, factual and scientific as any human or physical science you can name.
